Why?
Matrix clients may sometimes not sync properly with their server. This can introduce problems such as:
- Missing/incorrect avatars and displaynames for room members
- Messages not being sent to clients
- Room state (name, image, and other metadata) not being sent to clients
So, many clients ship with a "Clear cache and reload" option, to help them recover from such states.
